Galvanised Box Profile Roofing Sheets

Galvanised box profile roofing sheets are an excellent roofing material. They boast many of the same benefits corrugated metal roofing does but offer a modern aesthetic that many prefer (and some even find easier to install!). For some projects, box profile can provide the same benefits of corrugated at a more affordable price, making it a very popular roofing option.

Uses

Galvanised metal box profile roofing sheets are a fantastic choice for many outdoor structures requiring more protection than plastic or felt can offer. These roofing sheets are most often used in the construction of hard-wearing buildings such as utility shelters and storage facilities, warehouses and agricultural buildings. They are becoming more popular for mainstream use and in a domestic setting too, however.

Durability

A metal roof is hard to beat in terms of longevity and durability (some metal roofs last over 100 years!). Against most other roofing materials, like clay, plastic or wood, metal comes out strongest and most resistant to degrading. It usually requires little maintenance and is naturally resistant to rot, mould, mildew and infestation.

Of course, metals biggest problem is usually rust which slowly deteriorates metal over several years. Luckily, by adding a "galvanising" coating, you can enjoy a completely rust free roof for many decades. Our box profile sheets are “hot dipped galvanised”. This means each roofing sheet has been dipped into a galvanising liquid, adding a protective coating, that will prolong the lifespan of your roof.

The box profile shape encourages rain and snow to slide off the roof quickly, which also helps protect against rust and leaks.

Installation

Often we recommend installing a metal roof yourself only if you are a moderately confident DIYer. The box profile sheets are very lightweight, so shouldn't be difficult to lift or install, but you'll need to be confident that you can work with metal. Metal sheets aren't the cheapest roofing material, so you don't want to cost yourself a wasted sheet by drilling a hole in the wrong place!

You can hire an installer if you're not confident with DIY; however, you'll find handy instructions for many products on our website that can help guide you. If you're unsure, you can also contact our team for installation advice or for help choosing the right roofing material.

Our advice is FREE, and we're happy to help, especially if it ensures you end up with a great finished product!

Whether you do it yourself or hire an installer, these metal roofing sheets are so lightweight that you'll find installation is incredibly quick.

Cost

Cost is always a significant factor with any construction project; and if you are deciding between two materials, sometimes price can help you make a final decision. Metal roofing sheets are affordable roofing materials (especially at eRoofs) but are usually more expensive than their PVC counterparts. Box profile and corrugated metal roofing sheets are both relatively similar in price for smaller sheets, but box profile is generally cheaper per square metre (especially for longer sheets).

How do eRoofs offer incredible quality at such low prices?

You may notice our low prices and wonder how we can sell quality roofing materials for much less than competitors. Because eRoofs is an exclusively online store, we don’t have the enormous running costs of a physical showroom, which means we can offer you better quality products at much lower prices than high street DIY stores.
